Re-Do

Woke up this morning to this message on our board from the nurse, "We ARE going to have a better day today!" And so far, she's hit the nail on the head! Stephen is in much better spirits, feeling better, and much much less agitated. He even breezed through all of his exams this morning by the doctors, nurses and wound care specialists. The only people we haven't seen yet are the surgeons. Stephen is actually enrolled in a wound care study here at the hospital where they are studying how devices such as lines, tubes, and dressings affect the skin. So two teams of nurses come two days, on top of his regular nurse, to check over all the pressure points on his body. And breezed he through that this morning without hardly a fuss.

His is definitely still having some pain, I mean who wouldn't with 31 staples, but was only getting oral Tylenol, so they're going to give him some more pain meds and something for his nausea, but he's coming off of most of his other IV drips and hopefully tomorrow, they'll pull the central line out of his neck. Thankfully he seems to be getting over the drug psychosis he was in and we're on the road to recovery! The CT scan last night did show some pockets of fluid in his abdomen (not in the kidney), so that's making its way through the incision unfortunately, but I'm sure as the fluid works its way out, that also will cease. But surgery will need to come take a look later today.

Despite the little bit of sleep we got last night (both Bill and I slept on the bench in Stephen's room) I think everyone is in better spirits and it's comforting to know that his nurses and the doctors genuinely care not just about his health, but his overall well being and ours too. I told them that Stephen tends to have that affect on people ❤

  3. Great! Got a little closer to God on the flight home so I said a couple of long prayers. Our Superman Stephen is fortunate to have Super Parents like you and Billy. Sorry I could not stay in Philly longer - PaPa Steve will waste away to nothing with no one there to find a good restaurant for him. Will keep in touch-God Bless.
